Unit: Fashion Promotion Realisation

For this project, I took inspiration from two of Jack Bridgland's shoots: Robert Pattinson for GQ Magazine and Cindy Kimberly for En Route Jewelry.

Title: War & Protection
The initial garment for concept creation was a bulletproof vest. I then created a mind map with key ideas and words related to the garment. I wanted to focus on and explore the concepts of “war” and “protection.”

I gradually formed a social media campaign on the topic of war in our world and the mental war (mental health disorders) many people battle with today. Styling, photography, creative direction, and words by me, with inspiration from writer Sarah Bahbah.

For the styling, I gained inspiration from Raf Simons' "Riot, Riot, Riot" Fall 2001 collection, which featured a utilitarian aesthetic with the incorporation of a camouflage print top, responding to the concept of "war" and the usage of camo in military garments.

Test Shots
I experimented with editing, and the styling and colour palettes based on inspiration from Helmut Lang, Yeezy, Raf Simons, and Vexed Generation.

I used a balaclava scarf with inspiration from Raf Simons' Fall 2001 looks. The cargo pants connected with the clothing commonly used in war. The crocheted net shrug resembles the netting typically used to ward off enemies and blend in.
